THE OPPORTUNITY 

This permanent full-time position will be responsible for servicing and maintaining mechanical equipment and vehicles at the Canterbury Park mechanical workshop. Play an instrumental role in ensuring all equipment is available in good working order to meet track maintenance schedules.  

Key accountabilities of the role include: 

  • Service and maintain mechanical equipment & vehicles including diesel and petrol trucks, cars and tractors 
  • Developing and implementing service and maintenance programmes including the recording and purchasing of stock and prioritising work according to track maintenance schedules. 
  • Undertake general mechanical maintenance for example, out-front-mowers, front-end loaders, tractors and some tractor mounted implements. 
  • Contact and oversee external contractors assisting with ATC mechanical maintenance 
  • General cleaning and housekeeping of the workshop 
  • Calibration and maintenance of fuels 
  • Determine and undertake purchasing of fuels, oils, grease and other consumables. 
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as required? 

THE RIGHT FIT 

To be successful in the role, the right fit will possess: 

  • Trade qualifications as a Motor/plant Mechanic. 
  • Experience working with diesel and petrol motors including trucks and tractors and small machinery. 
  • Capable of working independently. 
  • The incumbent will require agility to work in confined spaces and be physically capable of manually lifting heavy objects; 
  • The ability to be self-motivated, work independently and as part of a team when required;
