LIFE IN THE ROLE 

Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, the successful candidate will proactively maintain the debtor’s ledger, including assisting with invoicing and collections of outstanding debtors and providing general support to the Finance Department in a timely and accurate manner. This role requires a focus on continuous improvement and delivering Australian Turf Club’s exceptional customer service. 

Key objectives of the role include: 

• Take ownership of the debtor ledger. Follow up on all debtor accounts on a weekly basis, to ensure all debtors are maintained to no more than 60 days, documenting the debtor correspondence in  Momentus and provide weekly reporting to business units. 
• Provide reporting and partner with stakeholders to promote adherence of policies and ensure invoices are raised on time, and payments are received prior to event dates. 
• Collaborate with General Managers on debt collection strategies for challenging accounts. 
• Monthly reporting to the  Head of Corporate Services and Financial Controller on outstanding debtors, the movement of debtors and amounts collected during the month. 
• Respond to accounts receivable related queries, process  transactions as requested in  Momentus for the ATC and associated entities within 24 hours of request. 
• Prepare all accounts receivable month end processing and prepare all month end rollover documentation for review in line with the distributed month end timetable to ensure an accurate cut off of accounts receivable. 
• Prepare specific balance sheet reconciliations in line with the distributed month end timetable and reconciliation listing. 
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and liaise with relevant stakeholders to drive change. 
• Provide assistance to the Finance Department in general finance duties as requested. 

ABOUT YOU 

To be successful in the role, the right fit will possess:  

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a high transaction credit controller role 
• Ability to demonstrate a strong attention to detail 
• Excellent time management and organisational skills 
• Excellent communication skills 
• Desire to achieve agreed outcomes 
• Solid knowledge of GST 
• The ability to demonstrate a methodical approach to work processes 
• To be able to work independently and be able to meet strict deadlines  
• Integrity – must be able to demonstrate and maintain high ethical standards of conduct; 
• Experience in cash handling/reconciling and banking 
• Knowledge of Momentus or another large commercial accounting package, with proficient Microsoft office, Excel and Word skills 
• Experience and knowledge of debt recovery practices including areas involving legal action 
• Solid Accounting skills are desirable
